Nobody should go a week without good company.
JoyUS matches older adults with trusted companions who share what they love, for phone calls, video visits, lunches, church, ballgames, gardens and day trips. Families stay in the loop the whole way.

To end loneliness for older adults by connecting them with trusted companions who share their joys.
A country where every older adult has good company to look forward to each week, and every family can rest knowing someone kind and joyful is showing up.
Why we started
JoyUS began at a family table. Our founder watched people she loved go quiet as friends moved away, spouses passed and driving became harder. They didn't need a nurse. They needed someone to talk baseball with, to sit beside them in church, to laugh over a game of spades.
Families wanted to help but lived too far away or worked too many hours. Home care agencies offered tasks, not friendship. So we built the thing we couldn't find: a safe, simple way to find companions who actually click with the person you love.
Why it matters
Loneliness is not a small thing. The U.S. Surgeon General has warned that social isolation raises the risk of heart disease, stroke and dementia, and that its effect on early death is comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.
Nearly one in four Americans aged 65 and older is socially isolated. A weekly visit from someone who shares your interests can change that.
How JoyUS works
Build a Joy Profile
Tell us what lights your loved one up: gospel or jazz, gardening, dominoes, the Braves. It takes two minutes.
Meet your matches
We pair people by shared interests and personality, not by whoever happens to be free. You see each companion's profile before you book.
Book visits your way
Phone, video or in person, once or every week. Family gets a joy note after every visit.
What we stand for
Dignity first
Older adults choose their companions and their pace. Their wishes come first, always.
Safety without shortcuts
Every Joy Provider verifies their ID with a selfie match, passes a background check, completes elder-safety training and agrees to our Code of Conduct. Money, gifts and legal matters are off limits.
Joy is the point
We measure success in laughter, stories and visits people look forward to, not in tasks checked off.
Everyone belongs
JoyUS welcomes people of every race, culture, faith, language, gender and sexual orientation. The site is available in 11 languages.
Fair to Joy Providers
Companions set their own schedules and rates, keep 70% of every visit, and are still paid when a family cancels at the last minute.
Family in the loop
Families see every booking, every message and a note after each visit, from anywhere in the country.
What JoyUS is, and what it isn't
JoyUS is companionship. Joy Providers don't give medical care, medication, bathing or personal care, and they never handle money or legal matters. For those needs, we encourage families to work with a licensed home care agency alongside JoyUS.

Retired teachers, nursing students, church members, neighbors who simply love people. If you're kind, reliable and curious about other people's stories, we'd love to meet you.
